CHARLIE, BECKY and CINDY

CHARLIE's STORY

Hi my name is Charlie.

I was born and grew up in Ireland where I won every race that I entered which is why someone thought it would be a good idea to bring me to England and race me illegally. After they had done this a while these nasty people took me to somewhere I did not know and dumped me on the street. I was found by someone who took me to Northumberland Greyhound Rescue to live with a nice woman called Dianne. She looked after me and I met alot of other greyhounds in the same boat as me. For nine months I watched as people came to the kennels looking for a dog to take home but no one picked me. Then one day I met my new mammy and daddy and went to my forever home. They took me back to the kennels a week later where I got frightened but it was just to pick up my new sister Becky. We now live together and I love my two favourite times of the day, dinner time and sleep time. I love my walks in the park and like to visit the ducks but am not allowed too close.

BECKY's STORY

Hello, my name is Becky.

I have always thought of myself as a Princess but for some reason humans seem to think I was born to race. They entered me into races and once I even won one just to prove I could. Eventually they handed me into a Greyhound Rescue centre where I immediately set about telling all the other dogs I was a royal by barking at them all. This seemed to get me alot of attention which was great. It stayed this way for six months until I was put into a kennel with a big black dopey dog called Charlie. I spent the next few days teaching him how to be a loyal footman and after that we started to get along just fine. Then one day two people came and took my Charlie out of the kennel and took him away. I spent the next few days crying until I saw Charlie come back. He told me he had found a nice home but he couldn't live without his princess. We went to live in a house which was better than kennels as I found I had many more beds in the forms of sofa's and mammy and daddy's bed. I now live a stress free life with my Charlie who looks after my every need.

CINDY's STORY

Hello, my name is Cindy

I was born in 2000 in Ireland where I had a successful racing career before coming to England. After my racing career was over I was handed to a Greyhound Rescue centre who found me a forever home with an older lady. Everything was fine for years and I thought that I would live out the rest of my days in happiness but alas this was not the case. The lady that I lived with was taken ill and eventually had to go and live in a home, sadly leaving myself homeless. That is where the nice people at Northumberland Greyhound Rescue stepped in. They decided to try and get me a new home without putting me back into kennels as by this time I was nine years old and only had four of my teeth left. Thus I was fostered by a couple called Adrian and Hazel, along with their Greyhounds Suki and Rosie. I stayed there for a few weeks until they told me that they had found me a new home. So I packed up my things and moved on, but sadly this home only lasted for a few days due to the fact that I didn’t get along with the family cat. Once again I found myself living with Suki and Rosie, and as a result I was going on the monthly Greyhound gang walks on the beach and meeting alot of other Greyhounds. It was during these walks that I met two Greyhounds called Charlie and Becky and I got along with them really well, so well in fact that when Adrian and Hazel went on holiday Charlie and Becky’s family said that they would foster me. So once again I packed up my things for my short break. However once I got there I fitted in with the other dogs like a hand in a glove and thus at the end of the two weeks Charlie and Becky’s owners said I could stay there forever. So finally I had a new forever home. I now spend my days playing with Becky (another cool brindle dog) and Charlie, who is my big black protector when we are out on walks. But best of all I can still go on the Greyhound gang walks and see all my friends.

And Finally... All three of us
