Our first gang walk of 2012 took place on sunday 8th. Jan. at seaton sluice a lovely bright mild day resulted in a very good turnout of dogs and their owners. In all approximately 20 or so dogs ventured south along the dunes path returning via the beach to the start where everyone chatted and the dogs enjoyed the many treats on offer

The Great British Greyhound Walk 2012
24th June 2012 - time and venue to follow

Our last meet n greet for this year took place on the 15th Oct at Royal Quays. It was a great success with many volunteers and their dogs in attendance, there has already been some positive enquiries to rehome dogs after this event.

We have held several events throughout the year at venues ranging from National Trust properties, garden centres to shopping centres to name but a few. All have been well supported by the general public, to whom we owe a huge gratitude  for their generosity with donations and also to those who were able to rehome dogs.

Another of our events was the memorable Great British Greyhound Walk 2011 which took place in the middle of the year at Tyne Green Hexham. This event was extremely well attended and I think we were able to raise greyhound awareness to the general public. Donations from this event enabled us to make improvements to our kennelling facilities at Hexham.

As we speak we are in the process of extending the kennel block and on its completion we hope to have kennelling for 6 more dogs. This is all down to your generosity.

On behalf of everyone connected with Northumberland Greyhound Rescue we would like to thank everyone for their support throughout the year and we hope you will continue to support us at our events next year

Thank You Paul!

 - £30 to date, to The Rescue her name is Morgan Robertson
and she is 12. We're very grateful for her help and her donations.

The Great British Greyhound Walk 2011

The Great British Greyhound Walk took place on Sunday June 26th at Hexham riverside park. A warm sunny day welcomed the many participants and their owners, who had arrived early to picnic and socialise prior to the walk. It was very hot and a large bucket of water helped quench the thirst of the dogs. Two o'Clock arrived and after a short welcome speech Dave & Rachel led the snaking procession of dogs and owners along the riverbank. A head count of dogs was taken near the start, and it took some time for everyone to pass the checkpoint but what an amazing site it was to see so many dogs and owners walking together, even some of the general public stared with amazement. Most of the dogs completed the 50 minute walk but some of the older and less able dogs and owners returned to the start to await the rest of the walkers, who eventually arrived back exhausted and thirsty. Everyone sat around and chatted to fellow owners who I think all agreed that the walk had been a big success, as indeed it was. Hexham had the 3rd highest number of dogs partaking throughout the country contributing 93 dogs to the national total of 2288 dogs.

A big thankyou goes to Diane & George for taking time out of a busy schedule to bring 17 retired dogs down from Eads Bush kennels, and i think the 17 dogs really enjoyed their day out as well, eagerly walked by volunteers.A big thankyou goes out to you all for supporting the event, for without your attendance this event can not take place. The dogs at Eads Bush would also like to thank all those who collected and donated money for their welfare and upkeep.Hope to see eveyone again next year for GBGW 2012.
